ENGLAND V's JAPAN
England got off to a great start to their U19 World Championship campaign with a convincing 24-5 win. The team played a great game dominating the face offs to give them the possession on which to build their attacks. Ant Hayes scored the first goal of the the 2008 World Championships running the full length of the field to score.
The feature of the game was the quality of the goals with the attack passing the ball around to score great team goals. The unselfish team work with the extra pass led to quality goals. Eleven players got on the score sheet again demonstrating the team effort.
The team played a solid game in defence clearing the ball effectively setting up the ball for the attack to use effectively. Both goalies saw time on the making some good saves.
The coaching staff was encouraged by the effort and application in this first game. The team now look forward to playing the host nation Canada tomorrow evening at 7.15pm local time.
